1. You will need $26.00 to exit Costa Rica. This is the first thing that you need to take care of when getting to the airport for your departure flight.
2. Security is strict, especially departing from the US, and the regulations keep changing. Check the current regulations at www.tsa.gov.
3. Depending on how good a packer you are, you may want to consider bringing a backpack or smaller piece of luggage in addition to a regular suitcase. There are times when we may be leaving our luggage at our hotel and going elsewhere for two or three nights.
4. Avoid bringing any unnecessary expensive items.
5. Although the weather should be warm most of the time, you may want to bring at least one long-sleeve shirt and pants. These are not so much to keep you warm, but to wear in buggy places. Speaking of bugs, be sure to bring a good quality, DEET-free bug repellent. Note that it is not necessary to put the repellent directly on your skin. Simply spray your clothing at the various openings, i.e., neck, wrists, and ankles.
6. We may encounter some rain. Bring appropriate outerwear and a compact umbrella.
This list will be updated periodically, so check back once in a while.
