Woodbury University Establishes President's Executive Council

(Burbank, CA ­ June 3, 2002) Woodbury University has appointed a diverse group of prominent individuals to a new President’s Executive Council.

The 26-member group was formed to help Woodbury by offering input on strategic planning, academic programs and relationships with the civic and business communities. Woodbury relies on a variety of advisory groups in a continuous effort to define public expectations for higher education and build close relationships with those who are served by the university.

'The individuals selected to participate on this council have their pulse on the community, business and education. Their ideas will provide Woodbury with the kind of guidance that is critical to meeting the evolving needs of our students and the Southern California community that we serve,' says Kenneth R. Nielsen, Ed.D., president, Woodbury University.

Members of the President’s Executive Council are:

  • Henry Anding, San Marino, CPA and educator
  • Cleo Baldon, Los Angeles, landscape architect
  • Lowell Bokelman, Somis, retired financial executive and Woodbury alumnus
  • James and Joan Bolton, Pasadena, insurance executive and parents of a Woodbury student
  • Milton Brock, Toluca Lake, housing developer and Woodbury alumnus
  • Dr. Ellen Campbell, Banning, educator
  • Don and Kay Farquhar, Burbank, community volunteers
  • George Isaacs, Honolulu, Hawaii, businessman and Woodbury alumnus
  • Ted Kirkendall, Laguna Beach, interior design executive and Woodbury alumnus
  • Eva Mason, Los Angeles, attorney
  • Frank Murphy, Glendale, CPA and educator
  • Terry O’Brien, Burbank, manufacturing executive

The President’s Executive Council recently held its inaugural meeting and will meet periodically throughout the year.

Founded in 1884, Woodbury University is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Southern California. An accredited, nonprofit university, Woodbury is located on a 22-acre residential campus in Burbank and offers bachelor's degrees from the School of Architecture and Design, Business and Management, and Arts and Sciences. Woodbury also offers a master of business administration as well as weekend and evening study for working adults. A San Diego campus was established in 1998 to offer bachelor of architecture degrees.
