Woodbury University Library Associates

Knowledge is the fountain of our dreams.

Become a member of the Library Associates and open the door to endless opportunities for learning and adventure!

The purpose of the Library Associates is to focus attention on the needs of today’s library and raise money for library resources, library services, library facilities and library technologies.

Though Woodbury University is non-secretarian, our library is housed in a renovated church. The setting is beautiful and peaceful, but creates unusual challenges in finding enough space for our expanding library holdings. We are adding between 3,000 and 5,000 volumes a year.

The books needed for the School of Architecture and Design are often oversized and take up more space than the average book. Slides, videos and microfilm are all viewed in the same room. More space for viewing these materials in separate rooms is needed so that the sound from the videos doesn't disturb other students studying.

For the past ten years, the Woodbury University Library Associates has sponsored a series of lectures. The fall lecture features the presentation of the Ray Bradbury Creativity Award, named for the famed author of the science fiction classics "Fahrenheit 451" and "The Martian Chronicles."

Other recent lectures have included:

  • Michael Rameriz, political cartoonist
  • Julius Shulman, photography and architecture
  • Stan Freberg, comic
  • Huell Howser, host of the PBS series "California's Gold"
  • Ray Bradbury, writer
