Satinder Dhiman, Chair, MBA Program Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree
The program requires a minimum of twelve 3-unit graduate courses. There are nine required core courses and three elective courses. Electives are available in the areas of accounting, computer information systems, economics, finance, international business, management and marketing. Electives are scheduled based upon student interest and demand. Applicants whose undergraduate studies do not include the requisite foundational business subjects will be required to do some preparatory work. Foundational subject areas include the study of accounting, economics, ethics, finance, management, marketing and statistics. Preparatory work may be satisfied in several ways by certain graduate course work (see under the heading MBA Preparation Courses); by undergraduate course work; or by test; or the Woodbury University Catalog. A plan by which the preparatory work may be satisfied will be determined in consultation with your advisor and approval by the appropriate chairperson of the discipline(s) involved. Woodbury University offers two format choices for earning an MBA: the regular MBA and the Accelerated MBA program. The graduate student in Woodbury University's MBA program who typically enrolls in two courses per semester may complete the MBA degree in two calendar years. Classes may be taken on the weekends, evenings, or a combination of both schedules, in the traditional semester format. Admission is conducted during the months of September, January, and May. Applicants to the AMBA must have at least five years of progressively advanced, post-baccalaureate administrative experience. AMBA students proactively engage in the learning process and share education, work and life experiences in the classroom. In the accelerated format, by taking one course in each week in eight-week module, the MBA degree may be earned in two calendar years. The accelerated program admits students every eight weeks. Accreditation The School of Business and Management is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). Careers The Masters in Business Administration degree provides education in the theory and practice of business management. The MBA program not only helps students to develop skills that are highly valued by employers, but also presents a theoretical context for solving many business problems. For any individual seeking to establish a career where the MBA will be valuable, specific industry knowledge or experience will also be very important in defining a successful career path. The following positions come from a variety of industries and represent several functions that can be found in businesses today. Director of Finance and Business Planning
