Rosalie Utterbach Scholarship Fund

Rosalie Utterbach spent 32 years at Woodbury as the heart and soul of the fashion design department. While she retired in 1996, her legacy lives on through the Rosalie Utterbach Scholarship fund. This fund benefits the talented and deserving students in the fashion design program by providing scholarships. Utterbach played a vital role at Woodbury, serving as chair of the professional arts division during her early years at the university and chairing the fashion design department from 1982 until her retirement. In honor of her contributions, she was awarded a doctor of fine arts at Woodbury’s 1996 commencement ceremony. The Board of Trustees also recognized her by conferring her the title of professor emeritus.

In addition to teaching and advising countless fashion design students, Utterbach assembled a premier historical fashion collection at Woodbury. A founder of the Costume Society of America, Utterbach recieved her professional training at Los Angeles Pierce College and UCLA.

Anyone wishing to help Woodbury’s fashion design students and honor Rosalie, may make a tax-deductable contribution to the Rosalie Utterbach Scholarship Fund C/O the address below. The Office of University Advancement would be pleased to answer questions or assist donors in carrying out their wishes. Please call (818) 767-0888.
