Exhibitions, lectures, workshops and exchanges keep the Department of Architecture's Center for
Community Research and Design (CCRD) buzzing with creative energy and ideas. The feeling inside this
storefront matches the activity outside on famed Hollywood Boulevardthe core of the historic
redevelopment district in Hollywood.
With a mission to engage and sustain the diverse culture of the Los Angeles region through
collaboration, research and design, the CCRD expands opportunities for Woodbury students and faculty
while extending the scholarly and professional learning atmosphere into the city itself. The CCRD's
community-based projects, research seminars and design studios help students develop awareness and
direct participation in the urban issues, practices and places that define the city.
The ground floor of the Hollywood facility has more 1,500 square feet of gallery space with an
on-going series of exhibitions. The upper floors have more than 3,000 square feet of studio space
used for fourth- and fifth-year architecture and urban design studios, the Hollywood Urban Studies
Collaborative and interdisciplinary classes such as exhibition design taught by faculty from Fashion
Design and Architecture.
